Hoş olan tarihi ve çok güzel doğasıyla bir yerleşim yeri olan Eriha İdlib'in 13 km güneyinde yer alıyor. Devrimden önce yaklaşık 70.000 olan nüfusunun ve savaş sonrasında Eriha'ya sığınan binlerce civar köylüsünün çoğunluğu tarımla uğraşıyordu.
5.000 yıl öncesine uzanan şehrin tarihi kalıntıları ve yazıtları da Esede muhalif oldukları için birçok katliama maruz kalan şehir halkıyla beraber rejimin saldırılarından nasibini aldı.
Rejim güçleri 10.06.2012'de saldırdı ve birçok şehir sakinini öldürdü ve tutukladı ama bu şehrin rejime olan muhalefetini durduramadı. Rejim güçleri şehre 23.08.2012'de tekrar saldırdı ve içeride birçok kontrol noktası kurdu.
Şu an muhalifler tarafından kontrol edilen Eriha'nın stratejik kısmı Halep-Lazkiye yolu arasında bulunan Arbaeen Dağı'na bir geçiş noktası. İdlib, Lazkiye ve Halep tarafından çevrili olmasının muhalifler ve rejim güçleri için ayrı bir önem kazandırdığı şehir etrafına 12 kontrol noktası kurup şehre basit günlük ihtiyaçların, gıda ve tıbbi malzemelerin girmesine izin vermeyen rejim tarafından düzenli olarak bombalanıyor. Şehir Talae ve Qermid(Tuğla Fabrikası) Kampından ve etrafındaki kontrol noktalarından bombalanıyor.
Rejim tarafından uygulanan kuşatma sonucu insani koşullar çok kötü seviyede ve bu ayrıca hastalıkların yayılmasına da sebep oluyor ve ayrıca şehirde elektrik ve su tamamen kesik.
Geçen yıl ve tam da Ramazan ayında 6.8.2012 tarihinde rejim güçleri şehirde 15 şehit ve onlarca yaralı bırakan bir katliam yaptı.
İki gün önce ramazanın 12.günü 21.07.2013'te rejim güçleri şehirde bir başka katliam daha yaptı ve Akşam Ezanı öncesi insanların yoğun olduğu pazaryerine havan saldırısı düzenledi ve 23 kişinin ölümüne ve onlarcasının yaralanmasına sebep oldu. Pazaryerindeki kaldırımlar ve dükkanların önleri bu katliamın bir deliliydi.
Bir kez daha rejim güçleri bugün aynı pazar yerine 3 havan mermisi daha atarak aralarında 2 çocuğun da bulunduğu 5 kişinin ölümüne ve onlarca kişinin yaralanmasına sebep oldu.

Among the delightful history and enchanting scenery, and at a distance of 13 kilometers south of Idlib city, lies the Ariha city, one of the largest cities of the province of Idlib, of an estimated population of around 70 thousand people before the beginning of the revolution, most of whom used to work in agriculture, in addition to the thousands of the neighboring villages’ residents who fled to Ariha since the beginning of the revolution.
The city’s history dates back to more than 5 thousand years containing many of the manuscripts and archaeological sites, which were not spared from the regime forces’ bombardment and shells, along with Ariha’s residents who witnessed many massacres as a result of opposing Bashar Al-Assad’s regime since the beginning of the revolution as well as going out in crowded demonstrations demanding the regime’s overthrow.
The regime forces have raided the city on 10.6.2012 and killed and arrested many of the city’s residents, but that did not stop the city from its revolutionary movement and opposing the regime’s rule. The regime forces have stormed the city once again on 23.8.2012 and set many checkpoints inside it.
Ariha’s strategic site, which the Free Syrian Army controls over today, a gateway to Arbaeen Mountain at Aleppo-Lattakia road, mainly as it is surrounded by 3 provinces: Idlib, Lattakia, and Aleppo, gave it a significant importance to the Free Syrian Army and the regime’s forces, which also made it prone to daily shelling by regime forces whom are besieging the city through 12 checkpoints, preventing the entry of goods, medicaments, and life’s basic needs to the city. The city is shelled daily by regime forces stationed in Talae and Qermid Camps as well as the surrounding checkpoints.
The siege applied by regime forces made the city live the worst humanitarian situations, and was the reason behind spreading of diseases, in addition to complete power and water outage from the city.
Last year, and precisely in Ramadan, the regime forces have committed a massacre in the city on 6.8.2012 which led to more than 15 martyrs in addition to dozens of wounded.
Two days ago, 12th of Ramadan, on 21.7.2013, the regime forces have committed another massacre in the city, as the city’s heavily-populated marketplace was targeted prior to Maghrib Adhan with mortar shells which led to 23 martyrs, among them children, in addition to dozens of wounded. The sidewalks and shops of the city’s marketplace are a proof to this blatant massacre.
Once again, today the regime forces have targeted the city’s main marketplace with 3 mortar shells which led to 5 martyrs, among them 2 children, in addition to dozens of wounded.
