Rejim aynı zamanda kızılaya bağlı tıbbiyecilerin bölgeye giriş yaralılara müdahale etmesine de izin vermiyor. / At least 30 civilians, mostly women and children, have been slaughtered by regime troops stationed at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Bayt Sahem, who used heavy machine guns to fire at crowds of unarmed civilians at close range as they attempted to flee the besieged town, which has been under relentless regime bombardment and siege for many months. Many more of the already traumatised and starved residents who were attempting to flee were seriously injured. The remaining people, including many who were injured, fled back to the besieged town. The real number of those killed is unknown, with Assad’s troops collecting most of the bodies for disposal, possibly in a mass grave, in an attempt to minimise the numbers of their victims (a standard regime tactic). Survivor reported that some of the regime troops placed a number of the victims’ bodies in one of the cars they were in, which was then set alight. The reason for this action is not yet known. Regime troops are reportedly still preventing paramedics from tending to the seriously injured civilians trapped at the scene of the massacre, with many of those critically wounded expected to die as a result of the lack of medical treatment. Following earlier negotiations with representatives of the townspeople, regime troops had apparently agreed to open the checkpoint today to allow hundreds of people to escape the town. When the civilians, mostly women and children, were assembled at the checkpoint, however, Assad’s troops opened fire at close range with the heavy machine guns.
